Public Strategies (PS) is a nationally respected consulting, project management, and marketing firm based in Oklahoma City. We provide innovative solutions for federal, state, and local clients, including project and program management, training and technical assistance, technology, event management, research and evaluation, video production, and strategic communications. We also deliver research-informed direct services to financially vulnerable Oklahomans, with a focus on strengthening families and improving employment opportunities.

The Communication Coach works one-on-one to help couples participating in Family Expectations (FE) practice the Speaker Listener Technique during class. The position is responsible for creating a warm and collaborative environment in which couples feel at ease to practice the skills.

Position Summary
  • Greet couples and introduced self
  • Explain the objective of the coaching session is to practice the Speaker-Listener technique and the approximate length of the coaching session
  • Coach the couple in the correct use of the technique, giving equal time to both parents
  • At the end of the session:
    • Thank the couple for their work and remind them to speak to their Family Support Coordinator (FSC), if additional assistance is needed with the skill they have learned
    • Complete a Communication Coach Feedback Form for each couple with whom they worked
    • Submit completed form(s) to a Family Life Educator (FLE)
  • Other duties as assigned
Essential Job Functions
  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Some college, preferred
Education/Training
  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Some college, preferred
Experience
  • Prior experience working with Oklahoma Marriage Initiative (OMI) for Family Expectations (FE), a plus.
Special Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to attend Communication Coach Training
  • Bilingual strongly preferred; excellent verbal and written communications skills in both English and Spanish
Essential Physical Requirements

Sufficient mobility and strength to move about the facility. Ability to be mobile throughout the community.
