The Position

Job Description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing exceptional service to bank customers by assisting with commercial loans as well as utilizing knowledge of the various accounts and products offered by the bank.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Reviews completed loan applications. Collects data from clients including assets, salary information, debts, and employment status to assist clients as needed.
  • Researches and corrects mistakes in applications for clients.
  • Reviews financial and non-financial criteria in loan file documentation for missing or erroneous information.
  • Evaluates credit histories for loan applications.
  • Performs variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures. Including providing assistance to Loan Officer with requests and tasks needed to complete and process loan applications.
  • Finalizes loan contracts.
  • Provides clients with loan payment details.
  • Communicates regularly with customers to ensure they receive exceptional customer service throughout the process building long-term, trusting relationships.
  • Maintains an active knowledge base of all the organization's loan products and a working knowledge of the qualifications to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and lending compliance guidelines.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handles customer complaints and escalates issues to supervisor as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness in and around work station.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Dresses professionally.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Work Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior banking experience.
  • One to two years of prior loan assistant experience.

Technical/Functional Competencies

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong understanding of loans and loan products.
  • Ability to initiate tasks and projects with little or no supervision.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to communicate well with customers by all means of communication including written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.
  • Ability to use e-mail, phone, and other communication tools are necessary.
  • Willingness to accept additional responsibilities
  • Dependable and adheres to time lines and schedules.
  • Takes initiative in development and completion of projects.
