Description

NewView Oklahoma is seeking FT and PT Optometrist in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

NewView Oklahoma's Low Vision Rehabilitation Center is looking to hire a full-time or part-time low vision optometrist for our state-of-the-art Tulsa facility. We are a nationally renowned nonprofit specializing in low vision and neuro rehab services. Position Summary: Provides eye examinations, prescribes various glasses, magnifiers, and other low vision devices to improve or maintain the client's level of vision. Ensures overall eye health as well as vision ability.

Essential duties and responsibilities (3-5 core functions representing 80% of time spent):

  • Providing comprehensive eye exams, treatment, and management of vision rehab patients.
  • Prescribing specialty glasses, prisms, bioptics, telescopes, magnifiers, and other low vision devices.
  • Ordering and interpretation of labs and genetic testing. Communication of results with patients, caregivers, and other health care professionals.
  • Provide instructions to optometric technicians to improve clinic efficiency.
  • Ordering and interpreting specialty testing (visual fields, OCT, fundus photos, etc) when appropriate.
  • Recording patient exam data into EHR.
  • Occasional travel to rural and inner-city clinics to provide eye care services to various communities.
  • Working with other members of the vision rehab team (OT, COTA, O&M, AT, etc) to improve patient outcomes.
  • Exchange professional correspondences with referring partners.
  • Maintaining all requirements for state licensure, including attending CE events.

Qualifications

Qualifications (Minimum education, experience, training, licensure, certification):

  • Requires Optometry degree and Oklahoma state license to practice Optometry.
  • Residency in Optometry preferred.
