RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world's premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Background Information:

This temporary summer student position supports the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement (ASAM) Branch in Patuxent River, Maryland. ATR is the Navy's East Coast open-air test range and provides airspace and airspace management, data-acquisition equipment, and instrumentation for aviation and weapon systems test and evaluation (T&E), warfighter training, and experimentation events. The intern will be exposed to cutting edge technologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with rewarding technical challenges to solve every day!

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The intern will be exposed to ASAM's four teams over the course of the program, getting experience with the different technologies and missions of each
  • Supports engineering, software development, and/or other technical efforts based on ASAM team assignment and the candidate's degree and interests
  • Designs and develops software and/or hardware solutions for T&E and/or data acquisition instrumentation systems
  • Test, calibrates, and configures T&E and/or data acquisition instrumentation systems
  • Maintains and improves the performance of existing ASAM hardware and/or software
  • Provides technical expertise in the research and investigation of emerging technologies to support flight test requirements
  • Provides ASAM operations project support as needed

Educational, Experience, and Skills Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current enrollment in a relevant Bachelor Science degree program (Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science or other related discipline) from an accredited college or university
  • Candidate must be able to work both independently, as well as within a team environment
  • Candidate must have strong communication skills, including both oral and written skills, and possess the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, as well as work independently on tasks
  • Candidate must have excellent attention to detail skills and abilities to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate problem-solving skills and think critically
  • Candidate must possess strong general computer skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass Drug Screening test

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to successfully pass a United States Department of Defense (DoD) Non-NISP background check

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees. Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
