Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Center Leadership to maximize daily patient census.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings to support key functions within the Center.
  • Greets patients and visitors compassionately, answers and routes calls to appropriate staff as needed.
  • Maintains all patient communication needs including scheduling, rescheduling and appointment reminders.
  • Collects point of service payments, including past due balances and enters patient charges per hospital policy.
  • Explains general consent for treatment forms to patient/guarantor/legal guardian, obtains necessary signatures and witnesses names.
  • Explains and distributes patient education documents as well as, all forms implemented for future services.
  • Obtains and Verifies patient insurance information to include pre-certifications and pre-authorizations for services and enters data in appropriate databases.
  • Verifies and reconciles charges as directed, prepares monthly patient survey data and appropriate documentation then transmits to provider.
  • Coordinates/Schedules ancillary testing with other hospital departments as ordered by physician.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times as measured by Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction score.
  • Maintains office equipment and supplies as needed, and medical supplies as directed.
  • Perform other job duties as required by supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 1 - 3 years medical office experience
  • Prior medical coding experience
  • Associate's Degree
